Integrated Specialty Coverages (ISC) is a Program Administrator dedicated to underwriting excellence, client service, and customer experience. As an innovative industry leader, ISC has built an end-to-end insurance platform by connecting a broad network of insurance markets and distribution channels.
ISC uses sophisticated systems and analytics to revolutionize how complete programs are underwritten and operated. With their most recent strategic partnerships, ISC has expanded their programs from commercial property, and hospitality, including bars, taverns, and nightlife, to now offer long-haul trucking and a wide variety of contractor’s coverages, including general liability workers’ compensation.
Matthew Roselle, Chief Operating Officer, Integrated Specialty Coverages joins me on Tech Talks Daily and shares the story behind the company. Matt has been involved in the insurance industry since birth, as his father has been a broker and insurance executive for his entire life. After graduating from Arizona State and the University of Denver and playing baseball, Matt entered the insurance industry as a retail agent with Farmers Insurance in Colorado.
Matt rapidly grew his business and was selected to become a District Manager in 2004. Over the next six years, Matt built a multi-line general agency to nearly $50 million of annual premium and was recognized in the top .5% of all brokers nationally.
Matt sold his business in 2010 on a quest to diversify his career in the industry and became vice president of sales with Assurity Life. Matt then was offered an opportunity to become chief operating officer for another carrier, moving to North Carolina and New Jersey. Matt wanted to relocate his family to southern California and was offered an opportunity to become executive vice president of marketing with Atlas General.
While at Atlas, Matt became acquainted with SIS and its leaders, and felt their vision and business model better fit his long-term career objectives. Matt joined SIS in May of 2015, and focuses his efforts on developing new programs, marketing, and overseeing all operations.
As an experienced entrepreneur having started and operated several insurance technology startups, Matt shares lessons learned growing InsurTech businesses. He also shares advice for fellow entrepreneurs when it comes to fundraising and building out a team.
Matt also talks about leveraging AI and third-party data to drive low loss ratios as his own company produces loss ratios for carrier partners between 10-15% lower than industry averages.
Matt’s company ISC is unique in that most of its technology team on the west coast had no prior experience in insurance. We talk about how to build a team that marries carrier/insurance expertise and relationships with programs and AI platforms.
