Varsity Tutors is a Live Learning Platform that seamlessly connects experts and learners in any subject, anywhere, at any time. To date, students have accessed nearly four million hours of live instruction on the platform.
Experts are available to meet in person or through the company’s award-winning online and mobile platforms, which account for the majority of all sessions. The company has raised $107 million in funding from investors including TCV, Learn Capital and The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative. Varsity Tutors was founded in 2007 at Washington University in St. Louis.
Kevin Gaugush from Varsity Tutors returns to my daily tech podcast. The last time we spoke, we learned about their mission to help people learn and their vision to seamlessly connect experts and learners in any subject, anywhere, anytime. I found myself inspired by their motto of forever learning and always growing.
Recently the platform announced that they now offer Instant Tutoring in every high school and middle school subject. With Instant Tutoring, students can log on via mobile or desktop and be matched with a highly vetted expert in less than 10 seconds. Perfect for late night test prep or homework related questions parents may not know.
“We’re continuing to see momentum with Instant Tutoring because parents and students have seen firsthand the benefits of being able to connect with an expert in any subject right from your laptop or mobile phone. Instant usage is up triple digits year over year, with the bulk of demand coming from our middle and high school-aged students.”
The recent addition of 77 subjects brings Instant Tutoring to 216 subjects in total, making it the most robust on-demand tutoring service available to students and their families. The platform includes live video chat, a whiteboard, subject-specific tools like a document editor, and session recording and playback functionality.
