Overair designs, develops, and manufactures electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft for air taxi and aerial mobility operations. Founded in 2019 as a spinoff of Karem Aircraft, Overair brings Optimum Speed Rotor Technology (OSTR) to eVTOL aircraft. As an early stage, venture-backed startup, Overair is designing aircraft, building hardware, building out a facility, and most importantly, building a team in Orange County, CA.
In August 2021, they announced the design of their revolutionary Butterfly – an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft for advanced air mobility. Butterfly is designed to be the most robust, efficient, and quiet aircraft in its class – a mobility workhorse that produces zero carbon emissions in flight.
Overair’s mission is to bring people together – enabling access to opportunities that would otherwise be unavailable because of the friction of moving around urban areas.
Be it a job, a sporting event, or a trip to the airport to access longer-range transportation, if we can reduce travel time, we give people freedom to live better lives. And our mission is to provide this freedom in a sustainable and equitable way, at a price point accessible to everyone. -Ben Tigner, CEO
Overair CEO Ben Tigner talks about Butterfly’s technology and how they want to change the way we live, work, and travel.
