453: YogaTrail – The Technology Behind The World’s Yoga Network
We don’t often associate technology with Yoga, but I am fascinated by how it is helping YogaTrail unite Yoga lovers and teachers from all over the world.
YogaTrail is a platform that connects yogis with their personal yoga world while helping yoga professionals to manage and grow their business. The company is also on a mission to empower yoga instructors, most of whom are female entrepreneurs. Although they’re central to the yoga ecosystem, they’re currently neglected by all the apps and companies in the space, and most are struggling to earn a living with yoga. Naturally, their second mission is to make the world a healthier and happier place.
I invited CEO, Alex Klein onto the show to discuss the following data points and his tech startup story:
- Female focus: female founder and 88% of teachers (and 75% of students) are women
- 500 Startups alumni with some VC & angel backing
- 50k yoga teachers are using the platform in over 100 countries
- Over 5 million yogis have connected with their yoga on YogaTrail
When Alex and his wife visited Chiang Mia, Thailand, they instantly fell in love with the country and the people. They had initially planned to stay for one week but loved it so much that they simply stayed and founded YogaTrail 3 months later.
In 2012, Alex and his wife visited Chiang Mia, Thailand, they instantly fell in love with the country and the people. They had initially planned to stay for one week but loved it so much that they simply stayed and founded YogaTrail 3 months later. In a very short time, the global yoga network became the place that connects yogis with their teachers and studios, all around the world. Alex shares his fascinating story and how technology can actually help users reach mindfulness when used in the correct manner.
