298: How Nexmo Is Disrupting Consumer Experience by Enabling Brands to Engage Consumers Through Chat Applications
I recently discovered that a company called Nexmo were disrupting consumer experience by enabling brands to engage consumers through chat applications. Their API connects brands, chat applications, and service platforms to reinvent customer engagement
Nexmo was acquired by Vonage in May 2016. But the platform continues to make it easy for businesses to build the personalized, immediate, and intuitive communication experiences that consumers want due to those rising expectation levels.
Nexmo is still best known as the cloud communication platform with 5 billion API calls across 225 countries and over 1,600 telecommunications networks. The platform provides easy-to-use Cloud APIs enabling app developers, online providers, and enterprises to reach customers and devices globally via innovative mobile, text-messaging, and Voice experiences.
The unique, Direct-to-Carrier approach and simple Cloud APIs helped fuel a revenue growth from $8 million in 2012 to $40 million in 2013. It closed an $18 million round of funding in January 2014 to scale and capture the rising demand for Cloud-based mobile communication.
The leading online and communication apps such as Airbnb, Viber, Line, KakaoTalk, Pingdom, HailoCab and ICQ trust Nexmo to deliver mobile messaging or two-factor authentication.
Nexmo, the Vonage API Platform essentially provides tools for voice, messaging and phone verification, allowing developers to embed programmable communications into mobile apps, websites and business systems. Nexmo enables enterprises to reimagine their digital customer experiences by providing them with the tools they need to easily communicate information to customers in real-time through text messaging, chat, social media and voice.
Nexmo’s team combines Mobility, Cloud and Communication expertise from leaders such as Skype, Microsoft, eBay, mBlox, KPN. After hearing about this fantastic success story, I invited the president at Nexmo, the Vonage API Platform onto the show.
